At the moment I am working on chapter four of what I consider to be a funny, exciting and perilous adventure for the 8+ wee boy – The Warlock’s Tail.
It’s fair to say that I am using my own little torags for inspiration and I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it. This is the first novel that I have done where I am following a plan. I have notes and everything! Very pleased with my wee self on that point and I’m looking forward to the end result.
I normally just sit and start to write letting the words flow as the appear in my mind but the fantastic twitter mob I have begun to know recently, have shown me new and improved ways to get the best out of my brain and actually put pen to paper, or fingertip to key as is the case with me.
Constantly watching the clock when I write so I’m not rushing around and trying to do all the other daily tasks that need completed in my life – I sometimes feel slightly hard done by when I have to close the laptop for another day. The good part being that I get to do it all over again the next day when I open up the saved documents and delve right back into the world I am creating.
Writing this story has me thinking I know, scary thought when that happens but bear with me, I look at the books wee N reads and they are all by men. Admittedly some may be pseudonyms and the male ‘author’ is really a 60 year old female from Lincoln who lives with her eight cats, doubtful, but you never know.
Apparently J.K. Rowling didn’t put her full name on the Harry books as she thought they might not sell as well with her female name on them. So maybe I should do the same… SP Broadley, S Broadley or just Broadley. Or maybe I could create a pen-name for myself: Simon Broadley or Aloishis Sturnbridge..erm maybe not. You know what I mean though.
I would hope that the content of the book and it’s amazing front cover (in my dreams it has an amazing front cover) would be neither here nor there for the reader as to whether it was written by SP Broadley or Sarah P Broadley.
I guess we will just need to wait and see. Watch this space!
